Chipotle works well if you're on a GLP-1 medication. The menu is fully customizable, the chicken is 32g of protein per serving, and beans are right there for fiber. You can put together a balanced meal in the 390 to 585 calorie range without thinking too hard about it.
Chipotle leaned into this in late 2025 when they launched a High Protein Menu with two items explicitly labeled "GLP-1 Friendly." Their chief brand officer told Fast Company they designed those builds to hit roughly 300 to 550 calories, 20 to 40 grams of protein, and 6 to 12 grams of fiber. The builds below follow the same logic, but you can do it yourself with any combination.
Everything here uses Chipotle's official March 2025 nutrition data, the same source behind our Chipotle Macro Calculator.
Why These Builds Look the Way They Do
GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound reduce appetite and slow how fast your stomach empties food. That changes what you need from a meal.
Protein is the big one. When you eat less overall, you risk losing muscle along with fat. Dietitians generally recommend 25 to 40g of protein per meal on GLP-1 medications to offset that. Every build below hits at least 42g.
Fiber is the other thing worth paying attention to. Slower digestion means constipation is common, especially in the first few months. Black beans and pinto beans at Chipotle each contribute roughly 7g of fiber per serving, and they're already sitting right there in the line. No extra charge.
Calories should land somewhere in the middle. Too low and you're missing nutrients. Too high and you'll feel uncomfortably full because the medication is already slowing everything down. The 390 to 585 range works for most people.
Fat and dairy are where things go sideways. Sour cream, queso, guac, and cheese spike the calorie count while contributing almost no protein. They can also make nausea worse if you're still adjusting to your dose.
The Builds
Build 1: The Balanced GLP-1 Bowl
This is the one most people should default to. Rice, beans, chicken, vegetables, salsa. Nothing weird. Feels like a normal lunch.
The Balanced GLP-1 Bowl
585 calories, 45g protein. No dairy, no guac, nothing that sits heavy. Brown rice adds a few extra grams of fiber compared to white for the same calorie count. This is close to Chipotle's own High Protein-High Fiber Bowl (540 cal, 46g protein, 14g fiber), just built without cheese or corn salsa.
If 585 feels like too much food, especially early on with the medication, drop the rice and you're looking at Build 2.
Build 2: The Lighter Bowl for Smaller Appetites
Common in the first few months on Ozempic or Wegovy: you want to eat something real but your appetite caps out fast. This one swaps rice for greens and keeps protein high while cutting the total roughly in half versus a typical Chipotle order.
The Lighter GLP-1 Bowl
390 calories, 42g protein. Swapping rice for supergreens saves 195 calories and the protein barely changes (you lose 4g from the rice). This is actually lighter than Chipotle's own High Protein-Low Calorie Salad (470 cal, 36g protein) but with more protein, because we skip the guacamole.
If this feels too stripped down, add half a serving of brown rice. That lands you around 495 calories.
Build 3: The Fiber Build
This one is for people who want to push both protein and fiber as high as possible without paying for double chicken. The move is both beans.
Double Bean Fiber Bowl
520 calories, 50g protein, and the fiber from two full servings of beans is substantial. Black and pinto together add 16g of protein for 260 calories. That's a better deal per calorie than adding cheese or queso.
If you do want to pay the upcharge for double chicken on this build, you jump to 700 calories and 82g of protein. That puts you in the same territory as Chipotle's Double High Protein Bowl (81g protein, 760 cal), but with more fiber from the double beans.
What to Skip on Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro
Not everything on the menu works well when you're on a GLP-1 medication. Here's what to watch.
Flour Tortilla (Burrito): 320 calories, 50g carbs, 8g protein. Worst calorie-to-protein ratio on the menu. A bowl gives you the same fillings for 320 fewer calories. For a full breakdown of cutting calories at Chipotle, see our lowest calorie Chipotle bowl guide.
Sour Cream: 110 calories, 2g protein. Almost entirely fat. If nausea is an issue for you, this tends to make it worse.
Guacamole: 230 calories, 2g protein. Healthy fats, but 230 calories for almost no protein is a tough trade when your appetite is already limited.
Chipotle-Honey Vinaigrette: 220 calories, 1g protein. The single highest-calorie topping on the menu. Salsas do the same job for 15 to 30 calories.
Queso Blanco: 120 calories, 5g protein. Better protein than sour cream or guac, but still mostly fat.
Cheese: 110 calories, 6g protein. Best ratio of the dairy options. But if you're choosing between cheese and just getting beans, the beans win on protein, fiber, and overall value.
How These Compare to Chipotle's Official GLP-1 Menu
Chipotle's High Protein Menu includes two items tagged as GLP-1 Friendly:
| Chipotle's Menu Item | Calories | Protein | Fiber |
|---|---|---|---|
| High Protein-High Fiber Bowl | 540 | 46g | 14g |
| High Protein-Low Calorie Salad | 470 | 36g | 10g |
The Balanced Bowl above (Build 1) is in the same range as the High Fiber Bowl, just without cheese. The Lighter Bowl (Build 2) beats the Low Calorie Salad on protein while coming in 80 calories lower. The Double Bean Bowl (Build 3) beats both on protein at 50g.
The official items are well-designed. But you can match or beat them by building your own. That's the point of using the Chipotle Macro Calculator.
